I was lucky enough to see "The Producers" when it was first released in theatres, and can recall alternately busting a gut laughing out loud and gasping in disbelief when the "Springtime for Hitler" number appeared onscreen. Decades later, when I felt my three kids were old enough to understand Mel Brooks' crazy sense of humour, I sat them down and put on my DVD of "The Producers", telling them "You're not gonna believe how funny this movie is!" And they loved it, and still do!
Lovely review! I watch this film at least once a year. The Swedish secretary! The chorus dancers! I'm off to see the musical on stage this Autumn in London.

That’s great! It truly is one of the funniest films I’ve seen. Mel Brooks is a genius! I love that you passed the movie on to your kids 😊.
Okay, I have to watch this! It sounds ridiculously good!

Wrote a short story where the stage version plays a role:

Fun story! I like the Cincinnati part too because that’s my hometown! Thanks for sharing 😊.
I used to live in Columbus. Thurber is loosely based on it, and I had to place it somewhere in Ohio…
The Queen City fits in perfectly with the story!
